Testimonials
Ben Crusinberry; High Flyers Alumni 2005 - 2013, Hunter College (NCAA DIII)
"When I started playing volleyball for the High Flyers I never expected how many opportunities it would create for me. As a high schooler, I was able to compete against the highest-level competition from all over the United States. We had the opportunity to travel all over the country playing teams from as far as New York and Hawaii. The skills and exposure I gained by playing for the High Flyers helped me receive many collegiate offers. I decided to attend Hunter College, a division 3 school in the heart of New York City, to continue my education and volleyball career. The skills I learned from the High Flyers allowed me to come in and earn a starting spot my freshman year. We enjoyed a lot of success in my 4 years of playing including two conference championships and an NCAA Elite eight appearance. After graduation, I received a scholarship offer to play volleyball internationally for Team Durham’s collegiate and professional teams while completing my master’s degree. Volleyball has opened so many doors for me and none of that would have been possible without the help of the High Flyers Volleyball Club!" |
Simon Bruckner; High Flyer Alumni 2008 - 2014, Quincy University (NCAA D I/II)
"Throughout my life, volleyball has meant everything to me. It has been the thing I fell back on when I was feeling down, the thing I looked forward to when I was happy. Playing volleyball has introduced me to my best friends, countless amazing people, and even my spouse. It has brought me countless opportunities that I otherwise never would have experienced, and I am so grateful for all the doors volleyball has opened for me. However, it wasn’t just the sport of volleyball that changed my life in such a monumental way, but the institutions that enabled me to pursue it. Of those institutions, the one that is the most important to me and the closest to my heart is High Flyers VBC. High Flyers is where my love and passion for volleyball was first allowed to grow and flourish. It was the place where one of the biggest journeys of my life began, the place where everything started for me. It was the place where I learned not only to become a volleyball player, but where I learned how to be a person. I can honestly say that without High Flyers VBC, I wouldn’t be the same person that I am today. I am incredibly grateful for everything that High Flyers has done for me and I will proudly claim to be a High Flyer for the rest of my life." |
